Dr Newton is an experienced and dedicated
dental surgeon. He qualified with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 1980 from
Manchester University. Upon qualifying Dr Newton spent 1 year in the Community Dental Service prior to
becoming an associate dentist in Bolton for 18 months and subsequently
Bristol for approximately 2 years. Dr Newton established his own dental practice in
Weston-Super-Mare in 1985. He relocated this practice in 1993. Dr Newton currently provides both National
Health Service and Private dental care. He has a practice based General Dental Services
contract.
For fifteen years Dr Newton was a
teacher of undergraduates in Dentistry in the Prosthetics department at the University
of Bristol Dental School between 1985 – 2000. He has been a member of Local dental
Committees in Bolton and in Bristol and for two years was Local Dental Committee treasurer in Bristol
. He was appointed by this committee to be the Deputy Regional Representative on
the General Dental Services Committee. Dr Newton has also previously been a vocational
trainer and has been appointed to the interviewing panel to appoint Vocational Training
Advisers and Regional Advisor.
Dr Newton has also been a school governor
and was for a short time chairman of governors.
His membership of dental societies
and associations includes The British Society of Periodontology, The Society for
the Advancement of Anaesthesia in Dentistry, The British Society for the Study of
Prosthetic Dentistry.
