I vote against the new contact. It is a stealth method of achieving a core service No consideration for the health of patients. Just access and easy cheap treatment. Congratulations on BAND well done.

I had membership of the BDA up until a few years ago, I have been “going it alone” after finally giving up on them. One of my concerns centres on those patients who fail to keep appointments. Last year our 2 surgery practice did a clinical audit in the number of broken appointments, and the total came to an annual sum of nearly 1000 unkept appointments. At 500 for each surgery and a nominal 2 UDA per appointment, I am losing 1000 UDAs each year for which I am not allowed to charge either the patient or claim as UDAs. In effect this means that I have to work two months every year for absolutely nothing- no money and no UDAs. . It is my feeling that when a patient breaks the contract, either the NHS should count the wasted appointment as a UDA or allow me to charge for my loss. Agreed - see updated AIMS - BAND

It seems like a good idea if enough disillusioned NHS dentists group together and make this half baked contract work for us and our patients. Please send membership form etc. and a rough number of members.
Very interesting- lets make it happen BAND hope the contract will be scrapped and replaced by something that dentists have a hand in designing
